Swimwear brand, Andrea Iyamah is keeping to what it is fondly known for — retro and brightly coloured swimsuits. A.I. as the brand is known by most, reflects the designer, Dumebi Iyamah’s African heritage.
The brand’s latest October 2018 campaign rekindles some of the earliest memories of the Nigerian child. It features supermodel, Oluchi Orlandi.
Yellow, purple and blue are the dominant colours of the pieces of the collection. Orlandi sports a bright purple swimsuit as she is photographed alongside young and boisterous Nigerian children. In another pose, she gazes as her hair is braided by older women dressed in vibrant coloured wrappers.
In another, the model plays hand games with little children on a bench. Elsewhere, she’s also seen roasting unripe plantain, known commonly as “bole”.
The campaign is heavily inspired by childhood activities of the Nigerian child. These include fetching water, gaming and a kitchen support, all of which are depicted in the shoot’s campaign.
The October 2018 Andrea Iyamah campaign was shot by Kadara Enyeasi in Yaba, Lagos.
